What we see on Kapolei roofs

We do a lot of work in Kapolei. It's next door: down Farrington and onto the H-1 and we're there. Kapolei and Makakilo are some of the busiest solar neighbourhoods on the island, so we're on this side of town most weeks.

The houses here are newer and the arrays are bigger. A lot of them have never been cleaned since the installer left, and what's on them is red dirt: it blows across the Ewa plain, especially where there's construction, and settles on the panels. Rain streaks it, it doesn't remove it.

Tile roofs are common in the newer subdivisions, and the gap under a tile-roof array is exactly where pigeons nest. If you've heard them, ask for the assessment on the same visit.
