Who we are

Angel Oquendo, owner

Sunshine Solar Panel Cleaning is a family-run crew out of Waianae. We've been cleaning panels across Oahu since 2019: Waianae of course, then Kapolei, Ewa Beach, Mililani, town side, Kaneohe, Kailua, Hawaii Kai, Wahiawa, all the way down to the North Shore. If you have panels, we'll come clean them.

A lot of what we do is residential, twenty or thirty panels on a house. We also clean two solar farms every year, a retirement community in Mililani, stores and buildings. Same crew, same equipment, whatever the size.

The thing people remember about us is the videos. Before, during and after, on every job, sent to your phone. It started as a way to show the work got done. It turned out to be the best protection a homeowner and a cleaning crew can have. If something's wrong with your roof six months later, we both know what it looked like when we left.

Not every customer is for us. If you have a Mercedes, you take it to Mercedes. That's the company we are. Some people really care about their stuff, and they want accountability: somebody with the proper insurance, somebody who knows what they're doing on their roof. That's who calls us, and that's who comes back every year.

Safety

Nobody makes us do this. We do it anyway.

It's a dangerous job up there. The state doesn't require training for solar panel cleaners. We go every year regardless.

  • The Las Vegas convention, every year The solar panel cleaning industry's convention. Angel takes the whole crew. Classes on harnesses, tie-down points, new panel types, micro-inverters, wiring.
  • Testing the frame A badly grounded system can make the metal frame of a panel live. We test before we touch it. People get electrocuted skipping this.
  • Yellow poles, proper gear Yellow is caution. PPE, shoes, harness, and an eye on the power line coming into the house.
  • The check-in protocol The tech sends the job videos from the truck. If they're not in 30 to 60 minutes after the job should be done, we call, because most techs work a roof alone.
  • Policing ourselves The convention shares the accidents from the year. We watch them. That's how you stay careful.
  • Insured up to $2 million Residential and commercial. Big clients that need more tell us the number; we add it for the job and send the certificate and licence.

Accountability

If we break it, we fix it. And you'll know first.

Roofs get damaged by crews who don't care. We've seen ceramic tile roofs where somebody stepped on everything, cracked tiles everywhere, and that water goes inside the house: damage, mold. So we record everything, and if a roof is too bad to walk safely, we say so and tell you to get it fixed first.

If we crack a tile, we seal it with clear RTV on the spot so no water gets in, take a picture, tell you, then match the tile and come back to replace it. Hours, or a couple of days.

We don't hide from any of it. When you ask for a quote, you get a video of the equipment we're bringing to your house. When we're done, you get the before, during and after. If your equipment's right, people look at your truck and go: that guy knows what he's doing.

"Our 1st experience with Sunshine Solar Panel Cleaning was great. We’ll definitely use them again. We were able to schedule our cleaning within a few days of our call. The.owner, Angel, told us his grandson, Champ, would do the job. He arrived about 15 minutes early & texted to let us know he was outside. He got right to work setting everything up, explaining that he’d take pics of the panels before and again after he finished cleaning. "Angel's grandson, Champ, came this year. He was just as timely, quick and efficient as Angel. Since the first year Sunshine Solar Panel Cleaning cleaned my panels I have had only one month where the electric bill was over $32 (I guess the new minimum charge) and that was a month where it rained almost every day at some point. I highly recommend Angel's service to anyone, especially those out there whio have seen their bill creep up. I never realized how dirty the panels can get until I really looked at mine 3 years ago.
