Pigeons and doves love the gap under a rooftop array: shaded, warm, dry, off the ground. We clear it, clean it, and close it with mesh sized to your roof.
What the birds do
It's not just noise on the roof
On Oahu it's feral pigeons, spotted doves and zebra doves. They flock, so it piles up.
They nest
Sticks, feathers and droppings packed into the gap block the airflow the array needs. Panels run hotter and make less power. The debris holds moisture against the roof.
They foul the glass
Droppings are corrosive to the panel coating and they shade cells. A shaded cell stops producing and can turn into a hot spot. Rain doesn't take it off, it bakes on.
They chew and pull
Pigeons peck cable insulation and pull loose wiring for nest material. Exposed wire under a roof you can't see is a short or a fire waiting.
They clog the gutters
Nest debris and droppings run down into gutters and downspouts. Water backs up under the roof edge.
They come back
A roost that isn't sealed becomes a colony. Noise at dawn, smell, mites, droppings on the lanai and the cars.
The clean-up is a PPE job
Built-up droppings carry things you don't want to breathe. That's why the clean-out is ours, not a homeowner with a hose.

There's no set price for bird proofing because no two roofs are the same. Severity, gap size and roof type set the number.

Nests and droppings come out and the panels get cleaned. Otherwise you seal the mess in.

6, 8 or 10 inch to match the gap. Spanish tile, shingle and standing-seam metal each take a different fit. Clipped to the panel frame, nothing drilled into your roof.

No set price, and here's why
- Severity. Eleven nests is a different day from a pair of pigeons that just moved in.
- What it takes. Netting or spikes. 6, 8 or 10-inch mesh. Sometimes both.
- Your roof. Spanish tile, shingle and standing-seam metal each need a different fit.
- Humane. It keeps them out. It doesn't hurt them.
